Template Tuesday 11/24/09

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIA!!!!  My dear friend and fellow TemplatesRUs team member is celebrating her birthday today.  Completely by chance, she is the one scheduled to provided the template this week.  How cool is that!  Note the cake image on her template card.  Do you think that was a subtle reminder to the rest of us so we wouldn’t forget her birthday?  ROTFL!!!!

So….  Happy Birthday to my dearest friend.  I hope it is everything you want it to be.  You deserve the best!!!!

Repurposing

One of my favorite blogs to follow is called My Stamp Habit .  She always has the neatest cards on her blog.  Recently she posted about how she “repurposed” some cardstock.  I thought that was a great word for it.  I recently posted about how I had some “leftovers” from a class and had to figure out how to use them.  I think repurposing is a much better word than leftovers.  Thanks for the vocabulary expansion Marilyn.

On that note, here is a repurposed card.  I had these Designer Series Paper scraps sitting on my desk and made up this quick card.  Hope you enjoy!

Template Tuesday 11/17/09

Just under the wire!  I was afraid I wouldn’t get this card done but I managed to squeeze some time in.  First off I will say – what was Ami thinking?  She always comes up with a template that make me wonder how in the world I’m going to pull it off.  Can’t say I love my card but it will suffice.  As they say in the movie Babe - “that’ll do pig”.

Here is Ami’s sketch:

Here is my attempt.

You can barely make out the sentiment in the lower right corner but it is there!

Thanks for a challenge Ami!

Angie’s back!!!  After a brief hiatus, Angie provided us this wonderful sketch this week.  I’m so glad she made it very easy.  I probably made my card rather plain but you know me!  I seems to favor those quick, easy, monochromatic cards!  This one seems to be all those put together.  Thanks Angie!

Make sure to check out the rest of the team’s cards.  I’m sure they were a bit more artistic than me.

Leftovers Disguised

Recently I gave a class making the extremely cute Dracula boxes that I showed you on a previous post.  I always cut extra materials when I hold a class just in case extra people show or we have an occasional goof up. If I don’t end up using all the cut materials then I try to come up with other creative uses for them.

I recently saw a post somewhere of a really cute pocket card made from the Top Note diecuts.  Can’t tell you where!  SORRY!  But since I had the Top Note diecuts in the Pale Plum and Basic Black cut out for the Dracula box, I’d thought I’d give it a try.

Here is what I came up with.  So completely different from a Dracula box huh?

Now let this be an inspiration to you to go use some of those scraps laying around your stamp room.  You know you have them!!!!

Template Tuesday 11/03/09

Today’s template is brought to you by ME!  Was it easy?  Well actually no and now that I look at the template a bit closer, I realize that I didn’t even get all the elements on there correctly.  But hey!  Its not all about exact interpretation.  The sketches are meant to be a starting point.  You can interpret as you will.  And obviously this is how I willed it.

Here is my template:

I was going for the kind of worn ragged comforter look with the pattern paper by using my distressing tool on the edges.  Not sure if it came across right.  So just be kind and try to envision it if you will.

Check in with the rest of the gals to see how they interpreted the sketch this week.

Happy Stamping!
